The Goettingen committee for inscriptions is part of the inter-academic project ‘Die Deutschen Inschriften des Mittelalters und der frühen Neuzeit’ (‘The German Inscriptions of the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Age’). In cooperation with the Academies in Duesseldorf, Heidelberg, Leipzig, Mainz, Munich and Vienna, it works on annotated editions of the inscriptions of the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Age, which have been published in about 100 volumes so far. The editions are published in print as part of the series ‘Die Deutschen Inschriften des Mittelalters und der frühen Neuzeit’. They are also available online on the website “Deutsche Inschriften Online” (www.inschriften.net). The inscription committee of the Goettingen Academy of Sciences and Humanities is responsible for compiling and editing the inscriptions in Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as well as in Hamburg and Bremen. Collections from Lower Saxony are currently worked on in Goettingen, while Greifswald is responsible for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
