Other Research Projects

In addition to its long-term projects within the Academies’ Programme and its Research Commissions, the Göttingen Academy supports a wide range of other research initiatives.

These third-party funded projects are often initiated by particularly active Academy members and may complement or expand on topics from larger long-term ventures. Funded by organisations such as the German Research Foundation (DFG) or private foundations, they are typically developed collaboratively by Academy members, staff, and external researchers, often emerging from the unique scholarly environment fostered by the Academy’s regular plenary sessions and cross-disciplinary dialogue.

These projects span a broad spectrum: from historical-critical editions and digital philology, to the study of ancient texts and manuscripts, and the transmission of knowledge across cultures and time periods.
