Religion and Natural Science in Transformation: Socinian Correspondence and Inedita Digital
The project is dedicated to the digital processing of Socinianism, a transnational religious movement of the 16th and 17th centuries that placed critical reflection, tolerance, and scholarly networking at its core. The point of departure is the letters and unpublished manuscripts – the Inedita – of leading Socinians. Using innovative, graph-based digital humanities methods, these sources will be critically edited, structured, and made accessible online according to open-access principles. The aim is to provide researchers with a comprehensive insight into the dynamics of religion, the emerging modern natural science, and communication during this formative period. In this way, the project makes an important contribution to tracing the historical development of pluralistic thought in Europe and to reconstructing the transnational networks of scholars and natural scientists.
