Wilhelm Jost Memorial Medal
The Wilhelm Jost Memorial Medal, and the accompanying Wilhelm Jost Lecture, is an award presented annually to an internationally recognised physical chemist. The memorial lecture is traditionally held at the institutions where Wilhelm Jost conducted his work. In 1992, Dr Heinrich Röck, together with the Göttingen Academy of Sciences and Humanities, established a foundation to preserve the memory of Wilhelm Jost (1903–1988).
Each year, on the recommendation of the German Bunsen Society for Physical Chemistry, the Academy honours a scientist with this distinction. As part of the concluding lecture, the recipient is presented with the Wilhelm Jost Medal.
