EdiKILex - Edition, Artificial Intelligence and Lexicography
Interdisciplinary Approaches and Digital Methods in Dealing with Early New High German Texts
The joint project EdiKILex (abbreviated from Edition, Künstliche Intelligenz und Lexikographie), funded by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture, will explore ways of integrating Artificial Intelligence into the work processes of scholarly analysis of pre-modern texts.
Over the coming years, a software will be developed which will lemmatize and semantically annotate digitally edited texts from the Late Medieval and Early Modern period. The basic reference for this project will be the Early New High German Dictionary and digitally edited texts in Early New High German. This can significantly facilitate and further professionalize text comprehension and annotation, not least for future editions. The tools and insights gained can then also be transferred to texts in historical forms of other languages.
Period of funding: 2025-2029
The project is running for four years with an outline of three stages: Development, Implementation, and Application.
