Executive Committee
It was Eduard Schwartz (1858–1940) who suggested to form an advisory board for the editorial project that would consist of members of the Göttingen Academy (formerly: Society) of Sciences and Humanities. Convening on a regular basis since 1908, this executive committee of interdisciplinary composition negotiates all aspects of managing the project and monitors the implementation of such decisions by the institute.
At present, the executive committee consists of eight professors of the University of Göttingen, seven of whom are fellows of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences and Humanities: the Old Testament scholars Rudolf Smend, Reinhard Gregor Kratz (chair), Hermann Spieckermann and Robert Hanhart; the New Testament scholar Reinhard Feldmeier; the patrologist Ekkehard Mühlenberg; and the classical philologist Heinz-Günther Nesselrath.
