Good Research Practice
Rules
The Göttingen Academy of Sciences and Humanities is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of scholarly excellence, grounded in integrity and good research practice. In line with its mission, the Academy has developed its own rules on good research practice to ensure the integrity of its research activities. Adopted in November 2023, these rules align with the German Research Foundation’s (DFG) Guidelines for Safeguarding Good Scientific Practice and are binding for all members and staff involved in research on behalf of the Academy. The guidelines stress the principles of honesty, transparency, and accountability throughout all stages of scientific work.
Ombudsperson
The Academy’s rules for good research practice allow individuals to contact an ombudsperson in the event of a suspected violation. This option is explicitly available both to persons who feel personally affected, and to whistleblowers wishing to report a violation affecting others. Reports can also be submitted anonymously, provided they are made in good faith.
