Humanities Data Centre
The Göttingen Academy was a partner in the joint project Humanities Data Centre (HDC) from May 2014 to April 2016. The aim of the initiative was to develop a concept for a research data centre dedicated to the humanities, capable of securely storing humanities research data over the long term and ensuring its continued usability.
The foundation for this effort was laid by funding from the State of Lower Saxony for a design study carried out over the course of the two-year project period. The consortium was led by the Göttingen Society for Scientific Data Processing (GWDG). Other participating institutions included the Göttingen State and University Library (SUB), the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity inGöttingen, the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, the Zuse Institute Berlin, and the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, also in Berlin.
Following the planning phase, the HDC was officially founded in July 2016 by GWDG and SUB.
