Hebrew and Aramaic Qumran-Dictionary Research Assistant (50%, fixed term)

The Hebrew and Aramaic Qumran-Dictionary Research Unit (http://www.qwb.adw-goettingen.gwdg.de/) is a project of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences and Humanities dedicated to the philological study of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Working alongside the other unit staff, the post-holder will be responsible for the philologic alanalysis of the Dead Sea Scrolls and writing dictionary articles in German.

Applicants are expected to hold an academic degree in a relevant field (e.g. Semitic Studies with a focus on Hebrew/Aramaic, Jewish Studies, Theology with a focus on Hebrew Bible/Second Temple Judaism). Proven skills in Hebrew Language areessential. The applicants must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in German, and must have the ability to work both on their own and as part of a team. Experience in Dead Sea Scrolls and Hebrew Bible are an advantage.

It is expected, that the applicant will write a doctoral dissertation or a habiltiation besides being employed in the dictionary project. The Academy of Sciences and Humanities will support this with an individual program, including the cooperation with the Faculty of Theology at the University of Göttingen.

Fixed-term: The position is limited tol December 31, 2019.
