Staff Council

The Staff Council of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Lower Saxony began its third legislative period on 27 February 2024. The Council convened for the first time on 8 March 2024 and elected Dr Kirstin Casemir (‘Place Names between the Rhine and Elbe’) as chairperson. Dr Sabine Elsner (‘Goethe Dictionary’) and Dr Christian Popp (‘Germania Sacra’) were appointed as deputies.

Other regular members of the new Staff Council include Dr Thomas Bode (Main Office), Dr Volker Harm (‘Wortgeschichte digital’), Dr Katharina Kagerer (‘Deutsche Inschriften’) and, for the first time, PD Dr Almut Schneider (‘Frühneuhochdeutsches Wörterbuch’). Dr Kristin Loga (‘Ortsnamen zwischen Rhein und Elbe’), Dr Cornelia Ilbrig (‘Goethe-Wörterbuch’), Dr Bronson Brown-DeVost (‘Qumran-Digital’) and Dr Felix Albrecht (‘Psalter’) were elected as substitute members.

The Staff Council holds a consultation hour every Wednesday between 10 and 11 a.m. in the staff council room 2.101 in Geiststraße 10. No prior registration is required: if you would like to discuss an issue with the Staff Council, you are welcome to come by. This offer also applies to support staff (e.g. research students). As it is usually difficult for colleagues from outside Göttingen to visit in person, the Staff Council can also be contacted by phone at+49 (0)551-3921582 during consultation hours. Furthermore, individual appointments with Council members can be arranged at any time.

All conversations and correspondence will be treated with the utmost discretion, as we are bound by a strict obligation of confidentiality.
