Academic career:
1968–1988 Degree course in German and Romance Languages in Erlangen, Paris, Tübingen, completed with the First State Exam in Tübingen. 1977 PhD in Tübingen. 1979 Second State Exam in Karlsruhe. 1993 Habilitation in Freiburg.
1980–1988 Research assistant and project researcher in the DFG-funded project “ istorische Phonologie und Morphologie des Deutschen. Eine kommentierte Bibliographie zur strukturellen Forschung“ in Freiburg i. Br. 1986–1991 Teaching assignments for General Linguistics and Gothic at the Institute for General and Comparative Linguistics at Munich University. 1994–1995 Interim professorship at the Chair for German Linguistics in Salzburg (Ingo Reiffenstein). 1995–2015 Professor and Chair for German Linguistics at the Catholic University Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. Initiator and director of various academic projects. and of the interdisciplinary Master degree course “InterculturAd – Werbung interkulturell”. Retired since Acotber 2015.
Elke Ronneberger-Sibold is Advisory Editor of the journal NOWELE (North-Western European Language Evolution).
Main research interests:
Historical morphology and phonology of German, language change, linguistic comparison and typology, word creation (abbreviation, blending etc.), brand names, advertising language.
