Wortgeschichte digital - Digital Word History
The project Wortgeschichte digital (‘Digital Word History’) traces the development of the German vocabulary from approximately 1600 up to the present, thereby filling the gap between lexicography of the contemporary language and the dictionaries of older language levels. As to the methods of dictionary writing, Wortgeschichte digital breaks new ground: Instead of providing a list of lexical meanings and quotations in the traditional way, it presents a word’s history in a short text, which adequately describe the semantic developments and thus make them more comprehensible. At the same time, with the help of digital linking and presentation options, a lexicographic offer is made available that can also appeal to a broader audience.
